Chad M. Opel, CFP®
With a storybook baseball career that precedes him, chasing and realizing a dream is anything but foreign to Chad Opel. A 40-0 high school senior season, capped by the Illinois State Championship. Top high school baseball team in America. 1998 American Legion National Champion and American Legion Player of the Year honors. A four-year starter at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and 2014 SIUE Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee. Not to mention, a three-year stint as a middle infielder with the Baltimore Orioles organization.
While rewarding and memorable, Chad would be the first to tell you his experiences and accolades on the diamond were merely the foundational work that would cement his true calling as a coach and advisor in the field of finance. As a Certified Financial Planner TM, Chad takes great joy and care in helping educate and guide clients on every aspect of sound wealth strategies and planning.
Chad earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He and his wife, Kathie - who is also a Estate Planning Attorney & Practicing Partner at Opel Bash Group in Edwardsville - reside in Edwardsville with their two daughters, Samantha and Elizabeth.
As continued advocates of community, Chad and Kathie co-founded Edwardsville Neighbors in 2009, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families who have experienced financial hardship due to loss, illness, or injury. The organization’s annual Taste of Edwardsville and Turkey Trot 5k are their main fundraising efforts. And grown to become two of the area’s most anticipated events.
